The Ram and the Goat


"While I was observing, behold, a male goat was coming from the west over the surface of the whole earth without touching the ground; and the goat had a conspicuous horn between his eyes. He came up to the ram that had the two horns, which I had seen standing in front of the canal, and rushed at him in his mighty wrath."

  Commentary

Read the entire eighth chapter and answer the following:

  1. How do the visions of chapter 8 relate to those of chapter 7?
  2. Discuss the imagery of the Ram within scripture.
  3. Discuss the imagery of the Goat within scripture.
  4. Relate your knowledge of intertestamental history with the visions of chapter 8. Draw on extrabiblical historical books to substantiate what you say.
  5. Discuss the timing of these visions.
  6. Can we reconcile v18 with v27?
