Daniel Chapter Nine

The Repentant Prayer



"O Lord, in accordance with all Your righteous acts, let now Your anger and Your wrath turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people have become a reproach to all those around us.

  Commentary

Read the entire ninth chapter and answer the following:

  1. In a paragraph summarize the history of the rebuilding of Jerusalem subsequent to this first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus through Malachi.
  2. If we were going to learn about prayer from this man Daniel, what principles would we glean?
  3. Consult different translations regarding the prophecy v24-27. What is the significance of the word translated as weeks?
  4. Reflecting on history discussed up to this point in the study of Daniel, when is the cut off of the Messiah, in v26.
  5. Discuss prophetic symmetry apparent in Daniel.
