2. What is the metaphor that John is using between light and darkness, i.e. what do these two concepts represent for John? (vs 4-9)



3. Explain what John means when he differentiates between those who receive/recognize him and those who do not? (vs 10-12)



4. In vs 12 and 13, John differentiates between those who are and those who are not children of God. What is/are the difference, and explain what John means?



5. Explain the significance of versus 17-18.



6. What is the most important part of the entire passage, 1-19?
