1. Let’s try some exegesis by having some fun by digging into the preamble (vs. 1-6) to the familiar story of the women at the well. Answer the following questions:



2. Why is it significant that “Jesus was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John”?



3. What is John’s status at this time?



4. Why is it significant that “it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples”?



5. How is it that the “Lord learned of this”? From who did he learn it? Why did he return to Galilee?



6. Why did he “have to” go through Samaria? Where or what is Sychar?
