The coinage of the modern United European Empire seems to reach
back into its Roman legacy, prominently depicting eagle and
classical architecture, together with 12 stars. The smaller
coinage seems to have a globe on it. (I am not sure I understand
the significance of the oaks just yet.)

Along the outside edge of the Two Euro Coin, it states the
credo: "EINIGKEIT, UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT". That is: unity
and right[eousness] and freedom. These could have been lifted
directly out of scripture as the things that Christ Himself
has promised the believers. Other than that, I could find no
hint of the intermediary, the Holy Roman Empire of
Charlemagne and his decendents.
